Bold Author Marketing Made Simple
The five simple steps to book marketing...

Bold Author Marketing fits in one sentence:
Become the author readers feel they know, then make it ridiculously easy for them to say yes.

That's it. Everything else is detail. But since details are where books sell (or don't), here's the simple version in five steps.

1. Know who you are (and who you're for)

Before you post, pitch, or pay for a single ad, get clear on four things:

• Who your book is for

• What your book's promise is

• What you stand for

• What conversation you want to lead

When identity comes first, every other decision gets easier. You stop reinventing yourself every month to chase the latest trend. Your readers stop wondering who you are, too.

2. Tell the story, not just the plot

Story isn't a bonus skill anymore. It's the glue in your marketing. It creates continuity, recognition, and emotional memory, the stuff readers carry around after they close the tab.

Short posts help readers find you. Longer content, like emails, blog posts, and podcasts, gives them a reason to stay. Readers don't follow fragments. They follow narratives.

3. Get close on purpose

This is the heart of it. Visibility gets attention. Proximity gets action.

Colonel Sanders didn't make KFC famous with the recipe alone. He kept showing up in front of people, long enough and often enough that they knew him, trusted him, and said yes. Same chicken. Different result.

You can build that same closeness online. We call it virtual proximity:

• A newsletter that arrives often enough to feel like a voice, not a campaign

• Posts that share your actual thinking, not polished talking points

• Short videos where readers hear your tone and conviction

• Live sessions where they can talk back

• Replies that make someone feel seen

You'll know it's working when a reader says, "I feel like I know her," instead of, "I think I've seen her posts."

4. Remove the friction to buy

Interest is emotional and immediate. Don't make readers work for it.

• Say exactly what you're selling

• Make the buy link obvious

• Cut the clicks needed to get to checkout

• Respond fast when someone is interested

If readers have to hunt, they won't. They have dog videos to watch.

5. Show up, measure, refine

Pick fewer platforms and show up consistently. Then watch the numbers that actually mean something: replies, email sign-ups, reviews, repeat readers, sales. Keep what works. Fix what doesn't. Don't restart from scratch every time you get bored.

Applause is fleeting. Familiarity compounds.

What Bold Author Marketing is not

• It's not shouting louder than everyone else.

• It's not being on every platform.

• It's not letting AI write a personality for you.

• It's not one brilliant launch, followed by silence.

The simple truth

Your book is the product. You are the reason readers trust it.

Be clear. Be human. Get close. Make it easy. Repeat.
